 Description and general information: Finpecia (Finasteride) is a medication prescribed for the treatment of male pattern hair loss on top of the head (also called vertex). It stops the process of hair loss and stimulates hair growth. The drug is manufactured under other names such as Propecia (the most well-known), Appecia, Finara, Proscar and others. A producer country is India, Cilpa Company. Finpecia hasn’t been proved to work at the temples to reduce hair loss. Use: Finpecia is meant to be taken by men only; therefore its use by women or children is not recommended. To achieve the desired result a man should take Finpecia daily not less than 6-7 months. After 13 months of use hair is supposed to grow back and stop falling out as fast. The medication is used not only for treatment of male pattern hair loss, but also for treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Long-term use of Finpecia reduces a probability of prostate cancer development, provided that Finpecia is taken in higher doses. The initial use of Finpecia (Propecia) was limited to the treatment of BHP. However, after several researches it was found out that most men who took Finpecia for some period of time observed hair growth. How does it work?
Finasteride (Finpecia) prevents the activity of 5-alpha reductase that is answerable for specific androgens in a human’s body. Testosterone is the most powerful hormone among the androgens. The thing is that within a cell testosterone converts into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that directly affects hair-growth. Dosage:
Finpecia is taken orally, 1 pill daily. You can swallow a pill with a glass of water. It is allowed to take Finpecia either after your meal, or before it. It is possible to take it on an empty stomach. Follow a fixed schedule of taking the medicine and do not take it without your doctor’s prescription. Storage:
Finpecia should be stored at a dry place. The temperature for its storage is 59 – 86 degrees F (15 – 30 degrees C) but not higher. Avoid keeping the medication in the light. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Throw the drug away after the expiration date. The difference between Fincepia and Propecia:
There are no significant differences in both formulas. Exactly the same chemical Finasteride is contained in Finpecia and Propecia in the amount of 1 mg. Warning:
Finpecia mustn’t be taken by women, especially by those who want to get pregnant or are already pregnant. They mustn’t handle tablets or its packages because the medication can be either inhaled or observed through the skin, which may affect the unborn baby. Side effects:
Certain side affects might occur when using Finpecia, though those are not common. Only 2 % of men, who took the medicine, experienced certain sexual disorders such as a short-lived erection or a weak desire for sex. These side effects are likely to pass in a few days. If they don’t, consult your doctor. In general Finpecia may also cause: - a burst of allergic reaction;
- rush, redness, itching;
- problems with ejaculation;
- swelling of the face;
- pain in chest.
If you have some liver function problems don’t forget to call on your doctor prior to taking the medicine. In the case of occurrence of the mentioned side effects, stop taking Finpecia for a while and consult a doctor. You will probably have to stop taking the medication for some time, but then get back to your schedule again.
