Generic Edronax is the name give to drug reboxetine which is a nor-epinephrine uptake inhibitor and is selective. It basically acts at synaptic cleft and inhibits the reuptake of nor-epinephrine in the brain thus increasing its amount in the synaptic cleft. This has a major effect on the neurons involved in maintaining emotions. Reboxetine therefore is used for mood disorder, panic attacks and major or minor depressive disorders.
Dosage:
The drug comes in the form of tablets, white in color and round in shape. It is taken in 4 mg dose twice a day i.e. 8 mg per day orally. However for severe conditions the dosage can be increased but not beyond 12 mg and should be strictly taken according to the prescription. The dose is adjusted according to the age of the patient, response of the patient, severity of the disease and side effects.
Usage
The drug, generic Edronax is mainly used as an antidepressant drug or more precisely for unipolar depression. However, its efficacy is still under research. Also, it is used for several other panic disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome. The drug is also found useful for bulimia nervosa, nocturnal enuresis in children that is resistant to other drugs and for narcolepsy. It is also given to negate the weight gain effect of Olanzapine on the body.
Contraindication:
Generic Edronax is contraindicated in the different conditions including cardiovascular diseases and glaucoma owing to its effects on the vascular system.
The drug is also contraindicated in erectile dysfunction, urinary retention, and hypertrophy of prostate.
In epilepsy, bipolar disorders and in patients using riboxetine or MAO inhibitors the drug is not used.
It interacts with certain drugs like fluoxetine, ciclosporin, reboxetine, tacrolimus, fluvoxamine, sertraline etc. so it should not be used while using these drugs.

Precautions:
In patients with the cardiovascular disorder, the drug is used with great care and is avoided in hypertensive patients. It can be associated with the development of suicidal thoughts and mood changes so, in such circumstances, the physician should be informed at once.
As the drug is removed from the body via kidney, it should be used carefully in the patients with renal dysfunction.
Drug interactions can occur when it is taken along with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, other antidepressants or any over the counter medication like vitamins.
Also inform your physician in case of any history of allergy, side effects, pregnancy, lactation or any other medical disorder.
