Generic Pulmicort (Budesonide)

Budesonide is a type of medication used to treat wheezing. Wheezing is a medical condition which involves shortness of breath brought about by asthma. When used frequently, Budesonide is very effective. This drug belongs to the corticosteroids class of medicine. It works by reducing swelling and irritation of the lungs when breathing. The medicine does not work instantly therefore if you have sudden asthma attacks, it is advisable to use an inhaler. It is important to note that Budesonide may be used for other purposes not listed here. It may also be used to cure emphysema and bronchitis. 

 

Take Budesonide as directed by your doctor. When using this drug, ensure you shake the container properly before use. This dose is administered depending on age, medical condition and response to therapy. It is inhaled by mouth normally once or twice a day. When inhaling this medicine, breathe in deeply and slowly  until the mists comes to an end. This will take approximately five to ten minutes. Cover your eyes to avoid irritation. Use Budesonide the same time every day. Use it regularly to enjoy its full benefits. Avoid increasing the dose unless the doctor says so. The drug starts to take effect after two days. This may last from four to six weeks when used frequently. Ensure you inform your doctor if the symptoms worsen.

Budesonide has the following side effects: running nose, dry mouth, nose bleeding, fever, sore throats, blurred vision, mental problems, development of white patches on your tongue or mouth and severe drowsiness.
