Mexiletine

Mexiletine also known as Mexitil is a non-selective voltage-gated sodium channel blocker, belonging to Class IB antiarrhythmic group of medicines. It is used for the treatment of arrhythmias inside the heart and irregular heartbeats. It slows the conduction in the heart causing heart tissues to be less sensitive.

• Mexiletine 50 mg capsule (Mexitil), a cardiovascular medicine, is an antiarrhythmic agent which is used to treat irregular heartbeat rhythm and can effectively slow rapid heartbeats. It can help your heart to stabilize to a normal rhythm. Due to the side effects caused by this drug, it is usually used for heartbeat problems only if they prove to be life-threatening.

• Dosage:  It has a 50 mg dosage which is prescribed only in severe heart conditioning. Do not overdose yourself with this medicine it can cause some fatal health conditioning. In this case, reach the hospital as soon as you can or contact emergency helpline.

• Directions:
• Take a single Mexiletine 50 mg capsule and swallow it with water.

• Use this medicine with food and antacids.
• Do not miss any dosage even if you feel perfectly fine.
• Have constant checkups and keep yourself well instructed about the daily required dosage.
• If you miss dosage take it as soon as you remember and follow up the same routine.
• If you missed a dosage and it is almost time for the next dosage then don`t take 2 pills to cover up the missed one, just continue with the next intake and follow the same regular routine.

• This medicine can cause a lot of side effects, therefore, its usage in patients is lowered and is prescribed in very rare cases.
• Some common side effect may include the following:
• Other serious side effects may include, allergic reactions like difficulty breathing, contractions, swelling of (tongue and mouth), blurred vision problems, severe stomach pain , chest pain , severe dizziness, fainting, fever,  sore throat, yellowing of the skin or eyes.
