Generic Prozac (Fluoxetine)

Fluoxetine is used to  treat adverse depression disorders. It is also used to cure bulimia, an eating disorder. There is no clear interpretation of how this drug works. It is presumed that Fluoxetine affects the nervous system by restoring a chemical balance in the brain. When used together with Olanzapine, this drug is used to treat depression and bipolar disorder.  You can use this drug to treat other conditions not listed here. 

 

The normal dose of Fluoxetine for extreme compulsive disorder is 20mg taken orally once in a day. This dose must be taken during morning hours. The maximum dose of Fluoxetine you should take a day is 80mg only. You can increase the dosage after weeks of inadequate clinical progress is detected. The adult dose for Bulimia is 60mg taken orally once in a day. If you are suffering from depression, you can start a Fluoxetine dose of 20mg daily in the morning. The maximum dosage you can take weekly should amount to 90mg and less. If your condition persists, seek medical advice quickly. 

 

Take Fluoxetine as prescribed by your physician. Stick to the instructions on your prescription label. This drug should be taken whole. Therefore avoid crushing, breaking or even chewing it. Use a medicine cup to get the accurate dose for liquid Fluoxetine. Continue to use this medicine until you  are done with the dose. In some instances, it may take up to four weeks before your condition improves. If this is the case, notify your doctor immediately. Keep Fluoxetine in a cool, dry place away from children. 

 

Strive to get emergency medical treatment if you experience these side effects. These are: panic attacks, mood swings, swelling of the face, lips and throat, blurred vision, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, slurred speech, nausea, rapid heartbeats, rashes and dry mouth.
