Generic Requip (Ropinirole)

Ropinirole is a type of medication that is used to treat Parkinson disease. It can be combined with some medication to heal this disease. Ropinirole is used to enhance your capability to move and reduce shaking among Parkinson patients. This drug also reduces the number of times you encounter the on and off syndrome. Ropinirole is also to treat RLS (restless legs syndrome). You can also use the drug to enhance sleep at night. This works by reducing the need to move your legs hence ensuring stability. Ropinirole is very effective in reinstating dopamine in the brain. 

 

Take Ropinirole as  prescribed by your doctor or physician. Read the medication guide carefully before you start taking this particular drug. Ropinirole is taken orally with or without food. You should take it three times a day to achieve its full benefits. If you take this drug with food, it will reduce nausea. If you are taking this  drug to cure RLS, you are supposed to take it once a day with or without food. Normally, you can take Ropinirole between one to three hours before going to bed. The dosage is given based on your response to treatment and medical condition. This drug may take a while before it takes effect. Therefore you are urged to  be patient. 

 

Do not increase your dose unless your doctor says so.  If you stop medication, ensure you consult with doctor on restarting the medicine. If you fail to do so, you will develop severe reactions such as confusion and fever. Seek immediate medical advice if you experience such side effects. 

 

Using Ropinirole for a long time will lead to certain side effects. This includes: headache, dry mouth, vomiting, dizziness, abnormal sweating, constipation and nausea. Notify your doctor if you experience these side effects. 

 

Before taking Ropinirole, make sure you inform your doctor if you have:

• Liver disease

• Insomnia

• Uneven heartbeats

• Hallucinations

• Mental disorders
