Exelon (Rivastigmine Tartrate)

People suffering from mild to moderate dementia are recommended to use Exelon. Dementia means any disorder related to the memory such as impairment of memory, abstract thinking or also change in personality. These kinds of problems are usually seen in patients suffering from Alzheimer. Exelon was approved in 1997 and now it is being used in more than 80 countries including US and Canada etc. The main function of Exelon is to improve the functioning of nerve cells. The breakdown of a chemical which is known as acetylcholine is reduced by this medicine. This chemical has a main role in human’s memory. People suffering from dementia usually have low levels of this chemical.

 

The medicine should be taken exactly as it is prescribed. The medicine should not be taken in larger amount. It should also not be taken for a long period of time. To get the best results from the medicine, the doctor may change your dosage. It is important for you to do what exactly your doctor says. Usually the Exelon is taken two times in a day. There are also many instructions which you have to read before using this medicine in any dosage. The Generic Exelon (Rivastigmine) 60 Mgshould be taken with full glass of water. The quantity of the medicine in liquid can’t be measured using regular tablespoon. It is not recommended to you to directly swallow the medicine. You should use this medicine with syringe or if you have to swallow it then mix it in any juice. Drink a full glass of water right after using the syringe to make sure that you have consumed the complete dosage of the medicine. 

 

If you have stopped using Exelon for any reason, do not restart it without consulting your doctor. If the doctor says you to restart it, then start it with lower dose.  Make it sure that you do to overdose the medicine. Overdose may cause diarrhoea, vomitingand some otherreactions. If you have to take any kind of surgery, discuss it with doctor ahead of timeir order to avoid the complications. 

 

There can be any allergic reaction associated with this drug. Yoy may get hives difficulty in breathing, swelling of face, lips, throat or other parts. If you have any of these side effects, you should immediately visit your doctors. Some other prominent side effects of this drug are:

2. Vomiting

3. Lose of appetite

4. Bloody stool

5. Blood in coughing or in vomit

6. Burning sensation while urination

7. Feeling light headed

8. Fainting

9. Pain in chest 

10. Agitation

Above mentioned side effects are serious however; the patient may also experience light side effects such as weight loss, diarrhoea, upset stomach, pain in joints, cough, increased sweating etc. there are also some other side effects which a patient can suffer from. It is recommended to consult the doctor at your earlier convenience.
