Mirapex ER tablets contain Pramipexole which is used to treat symptoms such as stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, poor muscle control and restless legs syndrome (RLS). These are symptoms of Parkinson disease which is associated with low levels of dopamine in the brain.

 

The doctor gives a prescription that ought to be followed to the latter. Your doctor may however change the dose where need be for better results. You may take Mirapex with or without food by swallowing whole. In case the medication causes stomach upsets, you may take with food, however, you are not allowed to break the tablet as breaking it causes too much of the drug to be released at a go. Other serious side effects include:

• Sleeping suddenly or extreme drowsiness

• Nausea, sweating , feeling light-headed and fainting.

• Hallucinations

• Chest pain, cough with white or pink phlegm

 

Before taking this drug, always keep your doctor informed about past medical conditions including other medicine you have been taking, previous prescriptions vitamins and herbal supplements. This should include history of heart problems, kidney problems etc.  Let the doctor know of any allergies because Mirapex can cause allergic reactions.
