Generic Parlodel (Bromocriptine) 2.5Mg

Product Information:

Parlodel is used to treat Parkinson and prolactin complications. It is used to cure tumors that produce a lot of prolactin and treating excessive breast milk discharge brought about by hyperprolactinemia which is too much prolactin in blood. The drug is also used to cure acromegaly, a condition where the body produces excess growth hormones. This medication works by reducing growth hormone levels in acromegaly patients. In Parkinson illness, Parlodel works by stimulating dopamine sensor receptors in the brain.

Dosage:

Use this drug as directed by your physician. Hyperprolactinemia patients may take an initial dose of 1.25-2.5Mg per day. This dose may be increased by 2.5Mg in two to seven days. The normal dose is however 5-7.5mg a day.  Parkinson patients on the other hand may consume 1.25mg of Parlodel in twelve hours. The same may be increased by 2.5mg a day in two to four weeks. Lastly, acromegaly patients can take1.25-2.5mg of Parlodel in three days. The dose can be increased by 1.25-2.5mg in three to seven days. These patients are however warned against taking 100mg of the drug each day. 

Usage:

Persons can take the drug with food. They should avoid skipping a dose of Parlodel. If this happens, patients are urged to return back to their regular dosing timetable. Avoid taking two doses of Parlodel at a go. Store Parlodel away from light, heat and moisture. Also keep the drug away from children and pets.

Side Effects:

Parlodel causes minor and severe side effects. Minor side effects include; nausea, stomach cramps, dry mouth, constipation, vomiting, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, skin cancer and increased sexual needs. Severe side effects include; depression, swelling of tongue, face and lips, chest pain, seizures, swelling, fainting and hallucinations.

Precautions:

Avoid using Parlodel if:

You are pregnant or breast feeding

You have high blood pressure or taking medicine to reduce high blood pressure

You are taking herbal medication

You are allergic to medicine or food

You have a history of heart complications

You drink alcohol frequently
