Dipyridamole is used to cure clots that form after heart valve substitutions. It has commonly been referred to as an antiplatelet drug. This drug works by helping blood to flow smoothly hence putting a stop to platelets that cluster together. This way heart blood vessels stay open. Clots are very serious heart problems that may lead to heart attacks, strokes and blockage of blood vessels in the lungs, a condition known as pulmonary embolism. Dipyridamole is combined with blood thinners such as Warfarin to treat blood clots.
