Generic Trental (Pentoxifylline) 400 mg

Trental is a type of drug that is used to prevent and treat intermittent claudation, a blood problem that often occurs in the legs and arms. This is brought about by impediment of the arteries. This medicine belongs to the hemorrheologic class of drugs. It works by helping blood flow swiftly through narrow arteries. This increases the supply of oxygen into the blood relaxing your muscles. This way, you will have minimal pain when walking and exercising. 

 

Take this drug as prescribed by your doctor. It is taken by mouth with food. In a day, you are advised to take Trental three times. Swallow it whole. Avoid crushing, chewing or breaking the tablet into tiny pieces. You can only do this if your doctor has recommended for the same. In some cases, you can split the tablet without chewing or crushing it as per your doctor's directions. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. 

 

Use Trental regularly to get the best of it. To help you remember, take it the same time every day. Take this medicine even when you feel well. If you feel the need to stop medication, inform your doctor immediately. The drug may take up to four weeks to get the best results. It is advisable to take the medication until you finish the dose. Some doctors have advised that the medicine may take up to eight weeks to get the full benefit. Inform your doctor if the symptoms worsen or persists. 

 

The side effects of Trental are: vomiting, dizziness, uneven heartbeats, easy bleeding or brushing, belching, nausea, gas, rash, itching, trouble breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, chest pain and unusual tiredness.  

 

Before taking Trental, inform your doctor if:

• You are allergic to the drug

• You have any other allergies

• You have liver or kidney disease

• You have Glaucoma 

• You suffer from diabetes

• You consume alcohol

• You are using other prescription, non-prescription and herbal products

• You suffer from stomach ulcers
