Product Information
Latanoprost is a type of medication used to treat high pressure inside the eye. This condition is brought about by glaucoma or eye diseases such as ocular hypertension. The medicine works by controlling the amount of fluid in the eye. This therefore reduces pressure in the eye. Latanoprost works in a similar manner as prostaglandin, a natural chemical in the body. Low pressure in the eye prevents blindness.
Dosage
Use this medication as directed by your physician. Before you apply the eye drops, make sure you wash your hands. Avoid touching the dropper tip to minimize contamination and infections. Apply Latanoprost once a day in the evening as directed by your doctor. Lean your head back, look up and pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch. Put the dropper directly on your eye and squeeze it according to the number of drops prescribed. Immediately look down and using your finger, apply some little pressure on the corner of your eyes near the nose. This helps Latanoprost from running out of the eye. Replace the dropper after every use. If you wear contact lenses ensure you remove them before using the medication. Do this at least fifteen minutes prior to applying the medicine.
Usage
Use Latanoprost regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember use it the same time every day. Continue using this medicine even when you feel well. Most people who suffer from glaucoma rarely feel sick. If you are using eye ointments, use eye drops five minutes before using other medications.
