Generic Timoptic Eye Drops

Timoptic eye drops are used to treat high pressure that is found in the eye. This condition is brought about by glaucoma and other eye diseases such as ocular hypertension. Timoptic belongs to the beta-blockers class of drugs. This medicine works by reducing fluid inside the eye hence preventing blindness. 

 

Use this medication as directed by your doctor. Make sure you read the Patient Information Leaflet before you start using timolol. Before you apply eye drops, ensure you wash your hands to avoid getting infections. What's more is to avoid touching the dropper tip when using Timoptic eye drops. Remove contact lenses before using eye drops if you are using any. You can put them on after fifteen minutes of applying timolol. Do not mix eye medications instead, wait at least ten minutes before using other medicines after using Timoptic eye drops. Use this medication frequently to get the most of it. Use it the same time each day to help you remember.  Your doctor might recommend that you use this drug for a long time because glaucoma is rarely detected unless you visit an optician. 

 

Use timolol carefully to get the most of it. When using this medication, tilt your head back, look up and drag your lower eye lid down to create a pouch. Place the dropper directly over your eyelid and drop one eye drop by squeezing the bottle. This medication is normally used in the morning, often twice a day. After squeezing the liquid into your eye, look down and close your eyes. Press your finger on the eye, near the nose for about two minutes to avoid draining the medicine from your eyes. When doing this, avoid rubbing the eye. You can repeat the process time and again according to your doctor's prescription. Do not operate machinery until your vision is clear. If you experience problems using this drug, alert your doctor immediately to avoid developing adverse side effects. Remember to replace the dropper cap after using it. 

 

Timolol has the following side effects: watery eyes, dry eyes, headache, blurred vision, itching and redness of the eyes, dizziness, eye swelling, uneven heartbeats, mood swings, coldness in the hands and feet and muscle cramps. 

 

Before taking timolol, inform your doctor if: 

• You have lung disease

• You have allergies 

• You suffer from asthma
