Generic Retin-A (Tretinoin)

Tretinoin is a type of vitamin A that is used to cure acne. This way the skin can rejuvenate itself. This medicine works by reducing the spread of acne on your face bringing forth a young fine looking skin. It also clears discolorations and makes the skin appear soft and smooth. 

 

Use this drug exactly as prescribed by your physician. Read the Medication Guide carefully before you start to use this medicine. This ointment is applied on skin and hence it's not taken orally. Do not apply it on damaged, dry or irritated skin. When using this drug, stick to instructions given by your doctor. Increasing the dose will not reduce acne breakouts, instead you might experience adverse side effects. 

 

Make sure your hands are clean before applying Tretinoin. Wash your skin with mild soap formula and dry softly. Let it dry for about twenty to thirty minutes before applying the medicine. After applying this cream, do not wash the area for about an hour. Do not apply this medication on your eyes, mouth, nose and open skin. When using Tretinoin, avoid excess sunlight, and instead opt for sunscreen lotion once you are in contact with too much sun. The drug may take up to few weeks until the symptoms subside. Remember Tretinoin is flammable so use it away from open flame or heat. 

 

Retin-A has the following side effects. These are: swelling of the lips, tongue and throat, hives, swelling of the skin and severe pain that is likened to a burning, irritating or stinging sensation of the skin.
