Generic Relafen (Nabumetone)

Nabumetone is a type of medication that is used to reduce pain. This pain might be brought about by joint stiffness or swelling caused by arthritis. This medicine belongs to the NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) class of drugs. Inform your doctor if you are taking medication to treat arthritis. You can ask for other medications to reduce your pain. Nabumetone is also used to treat gout attacks.  

 

Take this drug as prescribed by your doctor. Nabumetone is taken orally once in a day. You can also take it twice a day if you wish. Ensure you take these drugs with  a glass full of water. After taking this medication, avoid lying down for about ten minutes. This medicine is prescribed according your age, medical condition and response to treatment. Nabumetone can be taken with or without food. Therefore you can supplement this drug with milk and food. 

 

Avoid increasing or reducing the dose unless your doctor says so. This drug may take up to two weeks to take full effect. You are urged to take Nabumetone regularly to heal quickly.  You should take this medicine as soon as you experience pain. The drug may be ineffective if you use it at a later stage. 

 

Some of the side effects that are envisioned by using Nabumetone include: nausea, dizziness, headache, vomiting, constipation and high blood pressure.  Using this drug can also impart serious side effects such as: unusual tiredness, swelling of the feet and hands, hearing problems, dark urine, kidney problems, liver disease, abnormal stiff neck and yellowing of the skin. • Liver or kidney disease

• Heart disease

• High Blood Pressure

• An infant
