Generic Voltaren (Diclofenac)

Diclofenac is a type of medication used to reduce pain, joint stiffness and inflammation brought about by arthritis. This medicine belongs to the (NSAID) nonsteroidal class of drugs. It works by reducing pain symptoms hence you can lead a normal life. Diclofenac is also used to treat various painful conditions. This includes: muscle pain and dental pain among others. If you are using Diclofenac to treat arthritis, make sure you consult your doctor about using other non-drug treatments to treat the pain. This medication can also be used to treat other conditions not listed her. However ensure you seek medical advice before doing so. 

 

Take this drug as prescribed by your doctor. Read the Medication Guide carefully before you start taking Diclofenac. This drug is taken orally with a glass full of water. After taking Diclofenac, avoid lying down for about ten minutes. You can also take it with food if you experience stomach upset. Swallow the tablet or capsule whole. Do not chew, crush or break the medication.  This will destroy the special coating on the tablet as well as the capsule cover. As a result, you will be exposed to adverse side effects. It is important to note that taking Diclofenac with food may reduce absorption and setback pain relief. You can only take it with food if your doctor says so. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. 

 

The drug may take up to two weeks to enjoy full benefits. Use Diclofenac as soon as you experience pain. If you wait longer, the medicine may not work well. Do not increase or reduce the dose more than prescribed. If you are suffering from arthritis, continue to take this drug as prescribed by your doctor. 

 

Diclofenac  has the following side effects: nausea, constipation, headache, heartburn, stomach upset, dizziness and drowsiness. Serious side effects of this drug are: unexplained weight gain, unusual tiredness, swelling of the hands and feet and kidney problems. Consult your doctor if you experience the same. 

 

Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions. These are: 

• Allergies to naproxen, ibuprofen and aspirin

• Asthma

• Ulcers

• High Blood Pressure

• Heart problems
