Generic Prothiaden (Dosulepin HCl)

Prothiaden is a type of medication that is used to treat depression. It is also used to reduce anxiety feelings. This drug belongs to the group of antidepressants medicine. It contains an active ingredient which is Dosulepin hydrochloride that is used to reduce anxiety levels.  Doctors usually prescribe this drug when major antidepressant medicines have been found inappropriate. Prothiaden is available in form of capsules. These capsules can be found in brown and red colors. They have a 'P25' marking in White hence you can identify them easily. Adults can take a dose of Prothiaden capsules three times a day. The capsules are swallowed whole with water.  Your doctor will advise you when to take Prothiaden. You should avoid taking more than nine capsules a day. Elderly persons can take between one to three capsules a day. When using this medication, you are urged to take Prothiaden constantly unless your doctor tells you to stop. 

 

Use Prothiaden as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medication even when you feel better. If you do this, your condition may worsen. Do not chew this capsules but instead take them with a glass full of water. Also, avoid taking too much capsules as they are life threatening. In case of an overdose, seek urgent medical care. 

 

Some of the side effects envisioned by using Prothiaden include: blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness shaking, reduced sex drive, increased sweating, constipation, increased sweating, dry mouth and seizures. You are advised to seek immediate medical care if you experience adverse side effects. 

 

Before you take Prothiaden capsules, tell your doctor if:

• You have epilepsy

• You are allergic to Dosulepin

• You have liver or kidney disease

• You have Glaucoma

• You are using some other drugs that may affect how Prothiaden works
