Generic Ticlid (Ticlopidine)

Ticlopidine is used to prevent strokes. Most of the people who use this drug are patients who have tried aspirin and it has failed. This medicine works by preventing platelets from clogging together and forming dangerous clots. This way, blood can flow easily in your body. When combined with aspirin, this drug can treat coronary stent implant, one of the basic heart procedures. 

 

Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. Ticlopidine is taken orally with food. It is taken twice daily. The medication is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Patients taking Ticlopidine with aspirin to stop clots after a stent implant are urged to use this medication for a month as directed by your doctor. 

 

Take Ticlopidine frequently to get the best of it. In addition, take the medication the same time each day to help you remember. Do not stop medication unless your doctor allows you to. Avoid increasing or reducing the dose than the required prescription. This may increase your risk of side effects and your condition might deteriorate. It is advisable to take this medication until you finish the dosage. Do not skip the dosage, overdose or share it with patients of similar complications. 

 

Some of the side effects of using Ticlopidine are: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, fatigue, easy bleeding, black stools, kidney problems, mood swings, loss of appetite, severe abdominal pain, blood in urine, fever, chills, coughing, sore throat, skin rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue, dizziness and trouble breathing.

• You have clotting disorders

• You consume alcohol

• You are about to undergo surgery
