Norethindrone is a progesterone like hormone, though it is manmade used for treating amenorrhea and endometriosis. These hormones have the same effect as progesterone. Norethindrone got approved in the year 1982 by the FDA. It is both a curative and preventive medicines.
Dosages:
When treating bleedings in the uterus, it is recommended to take within 2.5 to 10 mg orally, once a day for a period of within 5 to 10 days, this being during the last semester of menstrual cycle. When treating the lining of the uterus, one is advised to take 5 mg orally for two weeks then followed by the addition of 2.5 mg to the 5 mg daily for another 2 weeks, continuously upto when it reaches 15 mg per day. This treatment is for a period of 6 to 9 months.
Usages:
It is used to treat women with an extra ordinary bleeding in the uterus. Its treatment to women whose menstral cycle have seized without a clear reason of either being pregnant or who have reached the menopause age. In the case that tissues that are supposed to be in the uterus but in someway have found itself in the abdomen, it is used to treat such a scenario. The medicine is compared to the progesterone that is produced by the body. The treatment is made possible by inferering with the normal growth of the lining of the uterus.
