Flibanserin

Flibanserin, which is also known as ‘Female Viagra’ is a drug that is used to increase sexual desire in women. It also reducesemotional distress in women with Hypoactive sexual desire disorder which is the most commonly reported cause of female sexual dysfunction.

Unlike Viagra, Flibanserin works by correcting the imbalance in the neurotransmitters in women’s brains acting more like an antidepressant. Flibanserin comes as a tablet.

Dosage

The recommended dosage is one 100 mg tablet taken once every day during bedtime. Flibanserin should be taken as prescribed by the doctor.

Usage

Flibanserin should be taken once every day at bedtime since taking it at any other time of day could put one at the risk of low blood pressure dizziness and sleepiness. Should symptoms not improve after 8 weeks of consumption one is advised to seek advice from their doctor.

Side effects

Like in many other drugs, Flibanserin comes with a number of effects with the most common ones being:

• Drowsiness
• Difficulty falling or staying asleep
• Dry mouth

Precautions

Flibanserin should always be kept in a cool and dry place away from the reach of children. Grapefruit juice and the fruit itself should also be avoided since they might react with the drug causing dangerously low blood pressure and in some cases unconsciousness.

Flibanserin should not be used with alcoholic beverages since it might increase the severity of the side effects. For pregnant mothers, it is known that Flibanserin can harm the unborn baby so it is wise to disclose your pregnancy to the doctor.

Lactating mothers should also inform their doctors since medicine is known to cross into breast milk and could harm the infant.
