Generic Ziac (Bisoprolol / Hydrochlorothiazide)

Bisoprolol(Hydrochlorothiazide) is a drug that is used to treat hypertension. Bisoprolol belongs to the Beta Blocker class of drugs. It works by blocking epinephrine, a natural chemical in your blood and heart vessels. This as a result, reduces blood pressure and strain on the heart. It is important reduce high blood pressure because it prevents kidney and heart problems. Hydrochlorothiazide works by increasing the levels of urine in your body. This way your body can get rid of additional salt and water hence your blood vessels can relax and pump blood smoothly. These medications are used to control blood pressure. 

 

Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Bisoprolol is usually taken with or without food. It is taken once a day as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. If you are using other drugs such as colestipol, take Hydrochlorothiazide or Bisoprolol at least six hours before taking colestipol. Avoid taking these drugs before going to bed because chances are you are likely to urinate.

 

Use Hydrochlorothiazide/ Bisoprolol regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember. take this medication the same time every day. Do not stop taking the medication even when you feel well since most people who suffer from high blood pressure do not feel sick. It may take up to three weeks before you get the most of this drug. Inform your doctor if your condition persist. Also, keep in mind to store the drug  at room temperature away from moisture and heat. 

 

Hydrochlorothiazide has the following common side effects:  cough, diarrhea, constipation, trouble sleeping, stomach pain and dizziness. Some of the common side effects of using this medication include: fainting, dry mouth, dry skin, muscle pain, weakness, seizures, uneven heartbeat and unexplained weight loss. Inform your doctor right away if you experience the same. 

 

Tell your doctor if you have these conditions prior to taking Hydrochlorothiazide. These are: 

• Kidney problems

• Liver disease

• Lung disease

• Lupus

• Diabetes
